Terms of Service
Last updated 4 November 2026
These terms apply when you use Sudo Menu: this website, the menus of the venues on it, ordering from a table, and the staff console. By using the service you agree to them. If you use it on behalf of a venue, you agree on that venue's behalf. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information.
The service
Sudo Menu lets cafes and restaurants publish bilingual menus, show them through QR codes and take orders from tables. The service is free for venues and diners. It is paid for by advertising shown on some public pages.
For diners
- Menus come from the venue. Each venue writes and publishes its own menu, prices, photos and dietary labels, such as fasting, vegan or spicy, and is responsible for them.
- An order is a request to the venue. The venue may accept, change or decline it, for example when a dish has sold out. The price you pay is the one in the venue's published menu, calculated by our servers, together with any VAT and service charge the venue shows.
- You pay the venue directly, in cash or by the methods it accepts. Questions about a bill or a payment are handled with the venue and, if needed, your payment provider.
- Bills printed by Sudo Menu are not official fiscal receipts. If you need one, ask the venue for a receipt from its registered sales machine.
- Allergies and dietary needs: labels are provided by the venue. If you have an allergy or a strict dietary need, confirm with the staff before you eat. Raw and lightly cooked dishes, such as tire or leb leb kitfo, carry a higher health risk.
For venues
- Your account. Give accurate details, keep sign-in details and staff PINs private, and remove staff who leave. You are responsible for what happens under your venue's accounts.
- Your content. You keep ownership of your menu, photos and venue information. You give us permission to store, display and format them on Sudo Menu, including on public pages and in search results, for as long as you publish them. Only upload content you have the right to use.
- Accuracy. Keep prices, availability, VAT settings and fasting, allergy and other labels correct.
- Your legal duties. You remain responsible for your business licences, food safety, tax, and issuing official receipts where the law requires them. Sudo Menu is not a fiscal sales register.
- Payments are made to you directly. We do not hold or transfer your money.
- Advertising. We may show clearly labelled ads on your public menu pages, but never on ordering, payment or order status screens, or in the staff console. The advertising revenue belongs to Sudo Menu.
- Never click your own ads. You and your staff must not click ads on your menu or ask anyone else to, and must not offer rewards for viewing or clicking ads. This breaks our advertising partners' rules and may lead to your venue's menu being suspended.
Acceptable use
Do not place fake, abusive or prank orders; misuse Call waiter or Request bill; try to get into accounts or data that are not yours; interfere with the service's security or performance; copy the service in bulk with automated tools; or publish content that is illegal, misleading or offensive. We may block devices, tables or accounts involved.
Our content
The Sudo Menu name, design, software and the articles in our guide belong to us. You may link to and share them, but not copy them in bulk or present them as your own.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Sudo Menu fast and available, but it is provided free and "as is", without a guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors. Venues should keep a simple way to serve guests if the internet or the service is down. We may change, add or remove features, and we will give reasonable notice of changes that significantly affect venues.
Responsibility
To the extent allowed by law, Sudo Menu is not responsible for the food, drink, service, prices or payments of any venue, or for indirect losses such as lost profit or business. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
Suspension and ending
A venue can stop using Sudo Menu at any time and ask us to delete its account. We may suspend or remove a venue or user that breaks these terms or puts guests, other venues or the service at risk. Where reasonable, we will warn the venue first.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Disputes that cannot be settled by talking to us first will be handled by the competent courts in Addis Ababa.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the service after a change, you accept the new terms.
